I need a scorecard

The U.S. House failed to pass a bill to extend some of the provisions in the Patriot Act. From what I’ve read, a bunch of new GOP representatives joined with a block of senior GOP representatives and only about two-thirds of Democratic representatives and voted against it on civil liberties grounds.

The Obama administration is backing the bill and a third of the Democrats voted for it?

Topsy-turvy it is.

I’m on the side of Republican veteran pols and wet behind the ears Tea Party nuts. Scary.

The party in power wants more; the party put of power is wary.

Power resides, more and more, at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. We the People -- despite what it says on paper -- are less and less powerful. No wonder you side with the Tea Partiers. It just means you're sane; it doesn't mean you are entering a subscription to Michele Bachmann's Revisionist History.

At least I hope not.

Ditto the Curmudgeon... even if this is a formality. If there is anything that needs to be repealed, it is the darn 'un-Patriotic Patriot Act'.
