Two Recommendations

Having fixed the video connection from the home theater to the TV, I just finished a movie I started a couple of weeks ago, Love Always. Do rent it. It’s a series of sweet, bittersweet, and wonderful vignettes of people and their interactions with other people. None connected, except at the end. Kind of a Crash, without the violence and message.

The final scene is all of the stories coming together, put to the music of the Beach Boys’ God Only Knows, one of the prettiest songs ever written.

That led me to YouTube and a few versions of it. Here’s one coupled to the movie. The sound is pretty good.

That got me wandering Google for cuts from one of the best albums of all time (Doc and Pos), Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys which you can read about (at interminable length) here.

All and all, a successful audio and video evening.

If you like the Beach Boys, you may be interested in a project that a few guys I know were involved in. In a live show, they reproduced the sounds of the Beach Boys, using period instruments, and doubling voices as needed...

Fendertones -- Check out the videos, especially the one for Little Saint Nick, where you can see the vocal doubling.

I hope, weather-wise, you all are doing O.K. -- noticed that you all are have some blustery conditions there.

Be sure to batten down the hatches and hunker down until all that nastiness passes ...

I checked out Pos' link. They were a bit rough around the edges, but eerily like the Beach Boys on some songs.

Thanks for your well wishes on the weather. I got a lot of thunder, lightening and rain sometime during the night, but no wind and no damage. The area where the storm it is just off the southwest corner of downtown.

We have a tornado watch for the rest of the day, but the radar shows only one storm which is moving SW to NE about fifty miles north of us.

Dave - i'm just checking in to make sure you're alright...heard you've had a tornado there?!

Is that right? Is everything okay?

I just heard on the news, and I immediately thought of you.

A final dispatch from the storm front. Today's storms started off to the north of town and late in the afternoo became a convoy from west to east along I-20, with a lot of hail damage along that route. Two people were killed in out lying areas.

Here it's a bit damp and that's all. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the seventies with blue skies.
