Help Me With This

You’re a Democrat. You chose one of the candidates, be it Biden, Gravel, Dodd Edwards, Kucinich, Richardson, Vilsack (I had to look him up – former Governor of Iowa) or – DRUM ROLL!!! – Clinton.

Your candidate loses to Obama. In the case of – DRUM ROLL!!!!!! – Clinton’s supporters, you apparently hold a grudge, encouraged for a long time by your ousted candidate, against the guy that that beat you. You don’t get no respect, damn it!!!!!!!!!!!!

We want her debts paid. We want Florida and Michigan seated, though it doesn’t change the result. We want prime time for an entire day of the convention. We want a roll call vote. What do you mean, you’re going to stop at New York so she can release her delegates and ask for nomination by acclamation? I’m from Texas, I want to cast my vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You get everything you asked for except all of the campaign debt, and, as it’s reported now, the full roll call debt. You’re still disrespecting us as women. How dare you. We’re not going to vote. We’re going to vote for McCain.

Give me a break. Anyone, man or woman, who voted for Clinton, is an absolute idiot if they don’t vote for Obama. What is their point? They’d rather have McCain in office?

So, they high-jack a convention to make a non-point to the detriment of a candidate that agrees with their views.

Stupid people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this point in time, I really con't see the point of the conventions since everyone knows who the nominees are. Just seem like a lot chest beating to me.

Yeah - major chest beating and spending lots of money for nothing.

Human nature?

The primaries were brutal and viciously competitive, and this went on far longer than was necessary. People dug in. It isn't rational or logical, and I hate to see it, but it is a predictable reaction. An earlier concession might have prevented this, or lessened the intensity, but things were hard fought until the very last. It wasn't wise (in my opinion), but it happened. And this is the result.

It may end up being a golden opportunity squandered. We'll find out in November.

Personally, I think she did her best to sway all of her supporters into Obama's camp.

My favorite line from her sppech that I posted on my blog was this...

"Isn't it ironic that GW Bush and John McCain will be meeting in the Twin Cities next week...because they are sure looking a lot alike these days."

I'm sure it's not verbatim...but it was sure good for a chuckle.

Peace! Vote for Change!

She's a total shrew, but I did like the fact that she asked everyone "Were you in this for me, or were you in this for your country?" or something like that. At least she gets it. Even though you could just tell it was killing her to be up there. Or maybe she looks uncomfortable and crabby all the time. Maybe.

The grievances of the anti-Obamas seem to fall into two categories: the Obama campaign tolerated sexism (there's plenty of trash talk to go around during campaign season) and that Obama isn't progressive enough (a more valid complaint, but one that isn't solved by backing Hillary).

This discussion at the pro-Hillary Correntewire might help shed some light on the deeper issues.

When we were discussing Number One hits at my place last week, the Farmer and I were carrying on a side conversation pertaining to this very subject in the comments thread. It may or may not be useful to you as well.

I literally can't stand seeing her face. She's the biggest fraud of a human Being I've ever seen. Someone please start a "please go away hillary" web site, for the good of this country.

The Clintons do not want Obama elected... although, of course, it would be political suicide for either of them to come out and say so.

But President McCain... see, he'd be 76 or 77 in 2012... he's even talked about serving only one term... and Hillary would be in play again....

Surely most of her supporters do not think this way... but Mr. Obama is wise to so ardently court them... to give Hillary nothing about which she can publicly complain... just to minimize the damage she might do to him in the Fall.
