Contest Update
Visitors are picking up; though comments are not. Current visitors are 7,210 with an average of 45 a day. If that holds up, the winner will visit next Monday.
Comments, and on my pretentious days, essays, on what on a given day interests, amuses, annoys or outrages me.

Hi Dave
Debo Blue
Debo, this does not constitute talking. You have to write pretty stuff.
Give us something to comment on, Dave... I mean, besides baseball. Sorry, baseball just doesn't do it for me.
I wrote a TON in my blog and used to get an average of 2 to 5 comments daily, now no one seems to want to comment.
Sir Jorge, I guess you and I just aren't as engaging as we were. That or summer doldrums.
hey, sir...i comment.
And, lx, I thank you.
Pos, I'm working on it.
Obviously, I'm the last one to be giving people crap about their output, so feel free to ignore me. But you have become one of the standard stops for me during the course of my day.
Thanks Pos. It's interesting that there's an incestuous group that habits blogs that I read. Some, I found by reading the blogs, others found the blogs having read mine.
Now that you've "come out," I see that a number of people that read me, read you; and, you are leaving comments on their blogs.
Since I'm involved with the circle, I hesitate to say it; but, there's a certain quality, no, not that, a sensibility involved in all of the circle blogs.
Have you noticed that all of us are writing less in the past few weeks? If you disagree, I'll go do an empirical study, please don't, I don't want to do the study.
Dave, you are very engaging, but sometimes you are over my head. I don't pay enough attention the outside world to keep up with you.
Sonja, you are on your way to a real live Ph.D, did I abbreviate that that correctly?
That being the case, the only way you can't keep up is due to not paying attention. Not paying attention, given what you're doing is the correct course.
I also gather that part of your comment is the result of my last comment to the post. You are part of the sensibility that I was describing to Pos.
On a totally unrelated subject, just how hot is it there. Stupid me, when I leave home in the morning, I turn off the air or the heat depending on the season.
Since we hit *&^ (^%_*)# degrees today, the interior temperature as I type, having gotten home about a half hour ago is, repeat the symbols. Stupid me.
Dave -- the sensibility you refer to, yeah. I have seen it. Although you seem to have a wider circle than I do, I have indeed encountered people through my association with you that I strongly suspect would be loyal confidants, were I to know them in real life.
One of the bands I mentioned in my "Gruntlement" post I found out about because one of the commenters on your blog (jlee) had a gadget in the sidebar that was playing one of their videos. And it sucked me in.
My final thought on this subject -- when you first started commenting on my posts, I was flattered. When you came back, I was surprised and even more flattered. When I learned that you linked to me from your blog, and were actively 'pimping' me, I was shocked. But it was when I discovered that you are no slouch yourself (in my opinion) in the writing department that the value of that association really kicked in for me.
So, thanks Dave. Thank you for supporting me. Although I have never met you in person, I consider you a friend.
Even if I don't win your &^%^ contest. :)
No love fests here. Pos, go to Jlee's place and find her music site on putfile. I tried to copy it into the comment; but, as usual Blogger isn't cooperating. She has a great voice, and as she says, an ok guitar.
Braves are coming back in the ninth. Bases loaded with Francoeur at the plate.
Thanks for the compliment. I tend to not pay attention on the world news. I don't know why, maybe cuz it depresses me.
Speaking of depressing, its damn hot. It rained today which cooled it down a bit, but the humidity sucks. Fall can't get here soon enough.
G'day, Dave. I found your blog a while back, via Debo Blue's, bookmarked it then, with the intent to read it some more and eventually get around to adding it to my favorites. But procrastination is high on my priority list and I haven't remembered to read it faithfully nor have I remembered to add it and some other blogs I like as well to my favorites. But I'm gonna do that - soon.
I do enjoy reading your posts though but sometimes, like someone else mentioned here, you do go a bit over my pea brain's capacity for comprehension. Some days, I am just totally braindead or so it seems.
Just wanted to tell you that - why, I'm not sure, but anyway, you write a good piece.
