Ethnic Politics
On the O’Reilly Factor tonight:
Kinky Friedman: “I love the Irish lad.”
O’Reilly (laughing): “There’s no apostrophe in Obama.”
Friedman: “I’ve never met him. I’ve met Hillary and McCain. I thought…”
Comments, and on my pretentious days, essays, on what on a given day interests, amuses, annoys or outrages me.

Dave, US politics baffle me... I know I sound ignorant (I really am when it comes to your politics)
but seriously, WHEN is it all gonna end?
All I've been hearing for weeks now is about this damn race. But then a few days ago someone at the office mentioned you don't actually elect a president til fall.
ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME????
why the long drawn out progress?
Wait, don't answer that. I probably won't be interested. LOL.
TG - our elections aren't over until every last one of us is so disgusted and disenfranchised with the system that we no longer give a shit who our president is. A couple years ago, they had to add a few months of recounts and legal battles to get us there, but "there" we always get.
Bill O'Reilly and Kinky Friedman: Jackass: The Sequel.
Pos, most Americans are already disgusted and disenfranchised, and don't give a shit who the President is, and we keep having elections anyway. I'm afraid somebody someday will start a movement to do away with elections on the grounds that they are a big waste of taxpayers' money, and that it will succeed.
Michelle, US politics baffle most people South of our border.
Personally, I think our supposed fascination with protracted races, isn't quite real - rather the long races are a result of however many 24 hour cable news channels there are and the newer internet political blog phenomenon that have to fill the "air." In other words, when there is no news, make some "news." In my own small way, it's what I do here if you get right down to it.
Dr. S - I understand the point you're trying to make, but the two party system is a poor analogue to the makeup of our nation. And I for one do not align with either of them. So any president that comes out of this system is as adequate for my needs as teets on a bull.
that girl - Trust us, we all feel the same way. I wish we could go the Canadian route (I live in Detroit, so am more familiar with theirs) and have only six weeks of this BS. I'm completely disgusted with the entire process - it feels like this election has been going on for two years already. Pathetic.
Dave - Just read a book called "Sweet Jesus, I hate Bill O'Reilly." I laughed out loud many many many times.
