Me 'n Ike
Ike appears to be determined to mess up my plan to lose money in New Orleans next weekend. The NOAA projection puts its eye about 150 miles SW of New Orleans next Friday at 2:00 p.m., when I’d planned to be finishing lunch at either Antoine’s or Acme Oyster.
A friend who works in disaster relief, sent me an Email saying I might be wise to change my plans. We’ll see what it looks like as the week progresses. I suppose I better make a “provisional” tee time for next weekend.

Ike may beat the hell out of New Orleans just like he did to Tina Turner. ;-)
I keep hoping north Georgia will get some rain from all of these storms, but nothin' since Fay. Dang.
Stay or go? Are you a gambler or not? haha. The hurricane center at the National Weather Service shows a less than 5% chance of hurricane winds, <20% for 50 knot but 30 - 40% chance of tropical storm winds.
If Ike moves any further south, you should be fine.
I am in the disaster recovery biz, but I only have Florida and the Eastern Seaboard, so I am elaxing a little right now.
Keith, Tina Turner is playing Atlanta this month or next.
Fermi, It's starting to rain as I type.
Dale,I'm not thrilled with this cone of confusion, or whatever it's called. I'm thinking I need to pay more attention to you, rather than what I'm seeing on line as to wind speeds. Maybe I should be betting on the southernmost projected computer track which would hit South Texas.
I can live with soggy. We'll see what happens as the week and Ike progress.
I had no idea it rained until I left work today - the disadvantages of working in the basement with no windows.
Granted not great for travel plans, but we just got back from Virginia Beach, 50 miles north of where hannah came ashore. Granted(again) not a cat3,4,or 5. but did put up some winds around 50mph and a lot of rain.
We found it a great science/weather class for our 5 year old because we could show him a huge example of beach erosion, and don't go on the beach with 50 mph winds, it hurst. Good luck.
