Are You Jealous?
My friend the cop gave me tickets to Santana tonight. Chastain is an amphitheatre here in Atlanta. We even get to park in VIP as my friend will wave us in. I'm told there is a really good blues band opening.
Once the Braves lose to the Mets, I'm going to warm up with a CD or two.
Sorry you're working Rick

Sooooooo jealous. My favorite song by them is "Open Invitation". Takes me back to high school. Have fun!
Hope you don't have lawn seats.
I saw him back in '79. Excellent show.
Am I jealous? Yes. PDM and I were in Mellow Mushroom tonight, looking through a Creative Loafing while waiting for our pizza. He noticed the Santana show, then noticed it was tonight. Darn! Hope it was good, and worth getting rained on (the one really BAD thing about concerts at Chastain).
Now this may shock you Dave. This is an artist that we both agree on. I like Santana. Hope you had a blast.
Peace!
Sunday morning update. There was rain but it tapered off as the opening act was finishing (the talisman was the five dollar poncho I bought and didn't have to use). The opening act was the Derek Trucks Band. Trucks' uncle is Butch of the Allman Brothers Band. Derek also plays with them.
Santana was great, playing over two hours.
Aside from the political comments it was a great show.
Anon, an attendee, is referring to Carlos Santana's philosophy, expressed at various times during the concert. I'll leave it at I'll give odds that he's not on the RNC's donor list.
He came out of the late 60's San Francisco scene. 'Nuff said.
(We need more like him, IMO.)
Doc, I actually agree with a lot of what he had to say. That said, he was mostly incoherent as he said it. To much consumption of SF mushrooms perhaps. But the man can play a guitar!
Carlos Santana can DEFINITELY play the guitar.
