Sarah Palin Channels W

Governor Palin, while not campaigning per the Boss’s orders, was interviewed by Katie Couric. Tell me W was not answering the question asked here. A (suspended) campaign official had to interpret her answer to provide marginal sense:

The Press Dissed Me

She also took four questions (not campaigning) at “Ground Zero,” answering one of them. Sorry, I can’t find the link again.

Seems to me she is well prepared to be a Republican Vice President.

Read this then lets discuss qualities of VP candidates.

If a guy thats been at this game for decades can be this stupid I think Ms Palin is doing a damn fine job dealing with the likes of ratings queen Curic.

Don't need to read it Jay, Biden is a gaffe machine with decades of practice. I'll amend the post to say that Palin is well qualified to be a Republican Vice President or the Democratic Senator from Delaware.

So I assume you agree she is over qualified to be the Democrat VP? With such a strong experienced guy at the top of the ticket the demo vp doesn't matter?

Damn good thing we're electing a president, not just a vice president.

Of course, I can say this since I personaly [sic] have never made a mistake.

The only VPs that ever mattered (past tense intentional) were Zachary Taylor's (the immortal Milliard Fillmore) and those selected by presidential candidates elected in years ending in zero:

William Henry Harrison
Abraham Lincoln
James A. Garfield
William McKinley
Warren G. Harding
Franklin D. Roosevelt
John F. Kennedy

Ronald Reagan broke the string by surviving the attempt on his life.

I'm not saying that it's not possible for a president to die in office anymore -- but, please, the vice presidency is just not that important a job to be worrying so much about it.

Children (the old saying goes) should be seen and not heard. Vice Presidents (usually) should be neither.

Off topic to your off topic:

Your client with the semi was involved in an accident with someone insured by what we call a "substandard" carrier. These are carriers whose business practices all pretend to abhor but their continued presence in the market is tolerated because the ranks of uninsured motorists or motorists who could find insurance only through the assigned risk pools would swell dramatically.

They either won't find their insured or if they do they will find that he has a different story than your man so they must decline liability.

No, Illinois law does not permit recovery of attorney fees in this instance. "Direct actions" against an insurer are not permitted (that is, in Illinois, unlike some states, you sue only the tortfeasor, never his insurer).

Policyholders may recovery attorney fees and other limited sanctions under Sec. 155 of the Insurance Code (215 ILCS 5/155). Generally, third parties have no rights against an insurer under this section (but see Buckner v. Causey, 311 Ill.App.3d 139, 724 N.E.2d 95 (1st Dist. 1999)).

I could tell stories... but so can Illinois attorney who's ever dealt with a sub-standard.

$4k in damage? $5k deductible? Pretend the guy was uninsured -- in the long run, it's probably cheaper for your client.

Jay and Curmudgeon,

For the record, while I'll not be voting for McCain/Palin, I'm not yet ready to vote for Obama/Biden.

Beyond Palin's language challenge Ala Bush and Biden, I really don't think she's qualified to be the Veep, and more importantly, the Pres.

My objection to McCain/ Palin is substantive rather than stylistic. What they say they want, is not what I want. While McCain is qualified to be the President, trying to do things that I don't want him to do, Palin is totally unqualified to hold either office. Curmudgeon, I'm not thinking that McCain will be assassinated; but, he may, at his age, be disable or die. Given that scenario, who becomes VP is quite important.

Biden? He can be a goofball, but he's a smart goofball. I could live with him in the top office, maybe. Obama? Again maybe. This paragraph is the rationale for my saying that I'm not ready to vote for the Dems.

Finally, off topic to Curmudgeon, thanks, you've confirmed what I thought.
