Just a Question

I’m watching a movie on HBO, Fracture. There are two main characters, one is a prosecutor in Los Angeles. One of the plot points is that he comes from a hard-scrabble background. He owes $60,000 in school loans, he’s going to leave the prosecutor’s office to go for the big money with a big firm.

He just went to his apartment. Remember this is LA. From the few seconds of the interior that I saw it is quite a bit over the average sized apartment anywhere. How does he afford it? Were there three roommates hiding from the camera?

You're having a suspension of disbelief problem Dave. Funny though, you don't have that problem with your politics.

I just saw the "apartment" in daylight, disbelief isn't the half of it. The apartment is a house on top of a hill looking out over the Valley.

Ha! Haven't you noticed yet the way Hollywood views just about anything -very unrealistically! Watch ANY show that has a scene involving a church service or funeral, for an example. The people attending said service, if there is any music being sung, inevitably will sing either "Rock of Ages" or "Amazing Grace" -or as in the Two and a Half Men program tonight -"Bringing In The Sheaves!" Apparently their theory is those are the only hymns people ever sing at services. And the same theory applies to the type of housing the character has, or clothing -you name it! All the same fluff in that respect. Just like how for years and years on the "Soaps" the women there would be cleaning while wearing some spiffy dress-up type outfit, including high heels! That always cracked me up and yet, some people watch that and think it is the "reality" of life. Gotta remember -it's still all fantasy.

Those kids in "Friends" also had pretty nice apartments.

I think the out of touch view Hollywood displays in their product carries over to their view of politics and the world. Neither should be viewed with any credibilty.
