Bad Statistics

I don't look at Sitemeter all that much. Once a week or so.

I've been on an upward trend in visits and page views every month this year. In August I went over 1400 visits and avereaged, well you do the math. September has brought the doldrums to my clicks. I didn't think I cared. Well, I didn't, I guess as long as they were there.

For the last seven days, which of course includes part of August, the banner month, I'm averaging 29 visits a day. Depression has set in.

I overwrote in August? I lost my muse? The Secret Service is diverting traffic as the result of my unkind, but harmless (I swear) thoughts about our Leader?

Or, like me you've been doing other things? Yep, that's it. Ebb and flow. Come on flow.

It's all about the muse.

If you have 30 inbound clicks, that's not bad Dave. It's all about what they are doing once they arrive...

I went back and re-read your 911 post, that is an awesome post. I was almost there with you (I was actually in Sheraton WY on my way to Dallas).

kids ... back at school ...

laundry ... piling up ...

soccer practice ... drop kicking the dinner hour to ridiculously late ...

football season ... I'm officially a "widow" ...

summer school reports ... won't write themselves (dammit!) ...

and me ... I just want to go to bed ...

I can only be a lurker for a while ... until life gets to "normal"

don't fret ... we're all still here ... just too damned tired

I have had less time for the internet so far in September. I'm sure that others have even more on their plates.

Lets see... back to school (for those who have kids), adjusting to college (for younger readers), summer vacation is over (all of us), it is football season (some of us), it is cool enough to start working in the yard again (people who like this sort of thing or can't afford to pay someone else to do it), baseball heating up (not for Braves fans, unfortunately), holiday weekend (a lot of people seem to do most of their blog reading at work). This is just to name a few excuses.

Feel any better? I'm sure traffic will pick up. No change in quality here. Keep on bloggin'.

For stat-watching, feed readers are the enemy; I read everything you write as I'm subscribed, but unless I have something I'm just dying to say (like now!) I don't click over.

But I'm here now, and that's what counts, right?

Plus, remember there was Labor Day in there.

OK, it was the holiday and feed readers. I am placated.

Nope. You're still one of my favs and I just got my blogroll back up. But I was lost the last couple of weeks in my own little drama.

Take care of you and keep writing! :)

I am assured that Summer numbers go down according to seasoned blogging persons who occasionally deign to speak with me.

I'm just hoping when the kids are back in school people will have more time (at work and at home) to browse in the Blogosphere....

Looks like everyone else got there first. It was Labor Day. People have better things to do on a long weekend than sit and stare at their monitors.

Well Dave, I visit your blog on par at least once a day, sometimes more often too. My numbers, according to my sitemeter, were way down for a while in mid-August or thereabouts, then they started to pick up a bit. Not as drastically as yours did but that may have been due to your competition with Mr. Pos ya know. Mine picked up again and have even been hitting the high 30's recently which to me is really incredible. Wonder if that came because I changed my template or put technorati to more use?
