I feel a bit bad for being a bit flippant in my prior comment, having thought about the subject of the referral. I've also gone to the URL Sonja gave.
The reporting is chilling, police prose, all facts no conclusions, but then the best prose leads you to the necessary conclusion.
And what is that?
It isn't just police being stupidly killed. There was a story this morning about a nightclub shooting here in Atlanta last night. Four or five guys walked in and sprayed bullets at a guy in what appears to be a rival gang. He got hit several times but so did three bystanders. Amazingly, no one was dead.
Our civilization is becoming much less civilized.
Dave - I had read Debo's piece earlier but went back cause I wasn't sure if maybe she'd put something new up there. You aren't alone in tearing up over reading that post of hers. Nor are you alone in your thoughts that our civilized society is becoming more and more uncivilized either.
Absolutely senseless. And it's true, it's not just police officers, but we are all affected.
Although I have my reservations about whether humans were ever all that civilized to begin with.
