Soup Season

I think it started with reading something somewhere, progressed with last weekend’s monsoon and continued with this week’s somewhat cool weather; but, it’s soup season here.

Last weekend I started with clam chowder – there’s only one as far as I’m concerned – New England. I really wish I would pay enough attention to just what I’m putting in the pot beyond the basic recipe; whatever it was it was really good.

This weekend it was crab bisque, an example of an early almost failure given my wont to put things in that maybe shouldn’t be there. Last night it was too peppery, not enough smoothness. Good but not bisque. So today I fixed it adding some heavy cream, some clam juice and a stick of butter. Tonight will be some un-heart-healthy goodness.

Next week will be either some late summer tomato or mushroom, to be followed as it gets colder with bean and chili.

Here is one that is super simple and very, very good. I had a version of this in northern California and searched the internet high and low until I found a recipe that tastes like I remember.

Cream of Green Chili Soup

1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can skim milk
8 oz tub sour cream
1 can green chilis, drained
(I also chop up some pickled jalapeno and throw them in, but you don't have to)

Combine all ingredients in blender, process until smooth. Heat in a saucepan and serve.

I've got another fantastic fall soup recipe, but I will email it to you.

Dude. What is the deal with your fonts? Big sans saerif font, iddy biddy serif font, normal font...

You're all over the place, Dave. Waddupwiddat?

Thanks Fermi.

Pos, the fonts are OK when I bring up the site. I did have trouble when I first published the post. Apple/Word/Blogger don't like each other. Do you get me on an RSS reader? If so, it may have pushed the original messed up version to you.

I view you in my browser (IE7) via a bookmark.

I may send you a screenshot of what I am seeing.

POS i visit via a direct link off my blog and this post is sub-humanly big to me too.

BUT made the food sound yummy! I think I am going to make a potato soup and when I serve it top with chives, bacon, and cheddar cheese shredded.

Well on my computer it just looks like your font is maybe a tad larger and that you hit the bold key but that's fine with me cause my vision likes this -much, much easier for me to read.

If you like broccoli and cheese -let me know and I'll send you a super easy cheesey cream of broccoli soup. Works best with a blender but doesn't absolutely require it. My kids loved it when I used to make it. (Yes, all three of my kids are huge broccoli fans!)
