One to go; and, a question
This is a two part post.
First, now I know why people use the word believe. Despite all evidence, you believe the Braves are going to win their next four games, the Rockies are going to lose all of their games and on Monday night we'll beat them in a "play-in" game.

It just occurred to me that I may be doing something stupid since I've had a Mac.
I have a Xerox Documate 510 Scanner, a wonderful little machine. Unfortunately Xerox can't see its way clear to providing Mac drivers and I can't use it with the Mac.
Since I can't send scanned PDF's now, on Monday, I sent a Word document of a brief to the lawyer on the other side as a courtesy rather than serving it just by mail as her response time was short. While there isn't anything in the .doc file by way of revisions that I'm worried about anybody seeing, as a lawyer, it probably isn't a very good idea to send out a Word file for the world to see how it came to be.
I assume just translating it to a PDF file won't help as someone with a full version of Adobe can open it up (?). Is there a way to lock or wipe everything in a PDF or Word file except the final version?

If you have a full version of Acrobat yourself, you can force them to have a password in order to edit them. You can also lock the whole thing down. I forget exactly how, and can't look it up, since I have as yet not installed Acrobat on this new PC. But it can be done.
Of course, if they are REALLY determined, they could scan and OCR your doc.
Another thing you could do -- you could set up an Efax account and set it up to deliver faxes as images. Then you could fax your docs to yourself. They would then show up in your email as images that you could then send to them.
Crude solution here, but you could copy the final text of your Word document (sans edits) and paste it into a fresh new Word document. I haven't tried it, but that should work. Or just fax a hard copy (the dinosaur solution).
Thanks guys, I think for the short term the copy and paste is the best security solution.
If your main goal is to hide your revision tracks, you are correct. If you want to prevent them from sneaking edits in, youmay want a more secure solution.
I'm not worried about edits, I know what I sent; and, I do send a hard copy of anything that is filed in Court.
